Pt Hridaynath Mangeshkar, noted music director and brother of melody queen Lata Mangeshkar today criticised the media for 'maligning' the image of his sister over the controversy on proposed flyover in Mumbai's Peddar Road area.

Speaking at a function to mark the 19th anniversary of Mahakavi Kalidas Kala Mandir here last evening, Mangeshkar said, "News reports that Didi has threatened to leave Mumbai if Peddar Road flyover is built, is baseless".

Lashing out at media for neglecting Lata's social work, he said she has set up a well-equipped hospital for poor in the name of late Dinanath Mangeshkar in Pune, by spending crores of rupees.

"No Hindi film actor has adopted any social project from his/her income", he added.
